Project Community Benefits

The proposed Wak Wak Solar Farm will provide competitive and reliable dispatchable renewable electricity to existing and future heavy industry.

Employment

The Wak Wak Solar Farm is expected to create over 900 construction jobs, 50 full-time operations jobs and third-party contracting opportunities across its expected 30 to 60-year project life.

TE H2 will work collaboratively with the Northern Territory Government and the local construction and operations industries to source a suitable workforce and secure supply chain partners.

You can submit a registration of interest in working with us to supply the Wak Wak Solar Farm project. Visit our Contact Us page for more information.

Economic

TE H2 will invest $2.8 billion into the Wak Wak Solar Farm project, 20% of which is expected to be spent locally.

The scale of the Wak Wak Solar Farm generates significant potential for developing a strong renewable industry within the Northern Territory.

The infrastructure, skills and experience that the Wak Wak Solar Farm will bring to the Northern Territory will provide crucial diversification within the local economy and support further investment in renewable energy sectors and the decarbonisation of industry into the future.

Environment

The Wak Wak Solar Farm will contribute significantly to the Northern Territory Government’s goal to establish a net zero economy by 2050. The project also will support local, national, and global decarbonization efforts.

Technology

The Wak Wak Solar Farm optimises existing technology at an innovative scale through a careful integration of advanced components, precise engineering, and expert operation.

Community Engagement

TE H2 is committed to engaging with the community throughout the development, construction and operational life of the Wak Wak Solar Farm.

TE H2 values community input and will undertake an extensive community engagement process within our communities to develop the Wak Wak Solar Farm project.

First Nations

TE H2 prides itself in building strong and long-lasting relationships with First Nations and traditional owner groups on all our projects. We are committed to building the same long-lasting relationships and sharing benefits with the First Nations of the land on which the Wak Wak Solar Farm project is proposed.

TE H2 contributed to the development of the Clean Energy Council (CEC) and First Nations Clean Energy Network guidelines for clean energy projects involving First Nations, and incorporates these principles into all engagement with the Traditional Owners of the proposed project.

TE H2 has been actively engaging with Wulna and Larrakia representatives (LNAC) over the last 18 months regarding Sacred Sites and cultural heritage impacts and archaeological surveys, with the commencement of surveys mentioned above with Wulna representatives in early December 2025.

TE H2 is committed to negotiating native title and benefit sharing agreements with the appropriate parties, where native title exists on our projects. The Wak Wak Solar Farm project site is, however, on Crown pastoral land with no registered native title claim over the area at present. TE H2 has been actively engaging with the Northern Land Council (as the prescribed regulatory body and facilitator of all engagement with parties under the Native Title process) since mid-2023 to identify and to facilitate engagement with the relevant Traditional Owners regarding native title. In December 2025, TE H2 lodged a non-claimant application to progress, clarify, and confirm the relevant Traditional Owner group for ILUA negotiations so we can progress engagement efforts. The application is not intended to circumvent, pre-empt, or diminish any First Nations rights, heritage interests, or cultural associations with the land. This process will confirm the correct entities for future negotiations, including Indigenous Land Use Agreements.

TE H2 remains committed to creating meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal people to be involved in and to influence the project’s planning.

TE H2 looks forward to continued engagement through the Cultural Values Impact Assessment, Archaeological surveys and the AAPA process, as well as ongoing project engagement discussions.
