Wak Wak Solar Farm
Solar power to fuel Darwin and beyond.
Wak Wak
Solar Farm
Wak Wak Solar Farm is being developed to provide competitive and reliable dispatchable renewable electricity initially to supply to existing and future heavy industry.
The Wak Wak solar project is proposed to be constructed on a pastoral station approximately 48 kilometres south-east of Darwin and 8 kilometres south-east of Humpty Doo. The project is proposed to consist of approximately 2.7 gigawatt-peak (GWp) of solar generation, and approximately 6 gigawatt-hour (GWh) of battery energy storage system (BESS).
TE H2 is progressing with the environmental and planning approvals for the Wak Wak Solar Farm and will be referring the project to the Northern Territory Environmental Authority (NT EPA) and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water.
Wak Wak Solar Farm will create up to 900 jobs during construction and 50 ongoing jobs in the Northern Territory once operational.
Project Components
The Way Wak Solar Farm project will consist of approximately 2.7 GWp of solar PV panels, approximately 6GWh of battery energy storage and associated infrastructure.
The design of the project will make use of highly efficient PV panels, mounted on fixed or single axis tracking structures, and allow for an optimised, year-round energy supply.
